Hi,

just wondering if anyone has noticed their banners being hijacked in Google Chrome?

Basically, some of my banners are being hijacked on various sites, by a banner from this site:

Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
It usually only appears once on a page, when using Google Chrome. It doesn't occur in any other browser.

How I noticed it, was I have site with Amazon affiliate ads only, and it is replacing Amazon ads that I have implemented. It is also replaces Google Adsense ads.

If checked in other other browsers the ads are OK!

If you are using Adsense, you might not even notice it.

My Google Chrome has no plugins, and it appears that it is infected by adware. I have been trying to track it down, but no joy yet.

Does anybody know anything about this issue?

PS: It does not appear on every page load, its random.

I get the AdChoices logo appear on adverts when browsing the web, but it seems to be both in Chrome and Firefox.

It has a FAQ explaining why you would be seeing this icon:
www.youradchoices.com/faq.aspx

I don't think they are hijacking anything, it simply informs you that the advertising platform is an AdChoice participant.

Thanks Ben for the answer. :)

Apparently, Amazon is an Adchoices participant partner:

www.youradchoices.com/participants.aspx

With the banners, I am not just getting the icon. The whole Amazon affiliate banner is being replaced. The latest, is not linked to the Adchoices site, but to other advertisers.

Amazon, probably wouldn't be too happy as the extraneous banner ads are for competing products they sell.

I hand-pick my Amazon banners so they relevant to my posts, and I am not particularly happy about the situation. I don't want ads that aren't relevant! ;)

If this continues, I will ditch Amazon as a 'waste of advertising space.'

That is very strange, I've never noticed that. How do you know they are being replaced by AdChoices and not by Amazon?

Hi Ben,

the site I am developing presently only has Amazon ads, Adchoice banners usually randomly appear in the lead 486 slot. :(

On a few occasions ads from Ziinga have appeared:

www.ziinga.com/au
Ziinga is owned by Flamingo Intervest and its payments are handled through Auction Management Limited.
Doesn't seem any logic behind this, but it does occur.

It may be associated in someway with Amazon, but I don't want traffic being redirected to a company I know nothing about.

I think I will ditch Amazon, and implement a buy/sell advertising mod. At least I will have control of the advertising.
